Eric Gobel is a Senior Lecturer and Interdisciplinary Program Director in Cognitive/Behavioral Neuroscience at Loyola University Chicago. He holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Preprofessional Studies/Biology from the University of Notre Dame.
Dr. Gobel’s research focuses on the psychology and neuroscience of memory, particularly nondeclarative memory phenomena and neuroplasticity. His work examines how perceptual-motor sequences are encoded through cooperation between brain regions like the basal ganglia, cerebellum, and cerebral cortex, with implications for understanding skill learning and neurological populations.

His research methodology spans behavioral studies, functional neuroimaging (fMRI), and plans to integrate EEG/ERP, fNIRS, pharmacological interventions, and brain stimulation techniques. Publications highlight his investigations into skill acquisition, transfer specificity, and dopamine signaling’s role in learning.
