Scientia Professor Chun Wang is the Head of the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and Director of the ARC Research Hub for Connected Sensors for Health at UNSW. He holds a BSc from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (1985) and a PhD from the University of Sheffield (1991). His expertise spans advanced composites, wearable sensors, and energy storage materials. Notable roles include former Head of Advanced Composites Technologies at DSTO (1995–2009) and Director of RMIT’s Sir Lawrence Wackett Aerospace Research Centre (2009–2016).
Research focuses on composite structures for cryogenic applications, soft sensors for healthcare, and energy harvesting systems. Key awards include FTSE Fellowship and UNSW Scientia Professorship. He leads strategic partnerships in the ARC Hub, advancing sensor technologies for global health markets. His work integrates materials science with biomedical and aerospace engineering applications.
