Chuck Kalnbach is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management at the Lundquist College of Business, University of Oregon. He joined in 2003 after a 20-year career with the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served as an organizational development consultant at the Coast Guard Academy. Dr. Kalnbach holds an EdD from Nova Southeastern University (2008), MS in Education from Indiana University (1995), and BS in Journalism from Thomas Edison State College (1991).
His expertise includes organizational development, leadership & communication, generations in the workplace, and outcomes assessment. He teaches courses such as Leadership & Communication (BA308), Leadership in Action (BA430), and Organizational Development & Change Management (MGMT416). He has developed pioneering curricula including the BA199 Professional Business Development course and the Oregon Graduate Leadership program.
Dr. Kalnbach has led major initiatives like the 2017-2018 Undergraduate Curriculum Review involving 40+ faculty/staff/students. His community work includes leadership roles with Alpha Kappa Psi (winning national awards) and the Oregon Young Scholars Program. He consults widely on leadership development, change management, and team dynamics for organizations like Nike, City of Eugene, and League of Oregon Cities.
Award-winning educator, he received the 2018 Dean’s Service Award and was voted Most Influential Faculty Member by students (2005, 2007). His research contributions include peer-reviewed articles on generational workplace dynamics and organizational change, along with case studies used in MBA curricula.
