Chuan-Chao Wang

Chuan-Chao Wang is a Professor and Director at the Institute of Anthropology, Xiamen University. He holds a Ph.D. from Fudan University (2015) and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History. His research focuses on ancient DNA methodologies to study human population dynamics, genetic legacy, and cultural interactions across Eurasia.

Research Interests: Dr. Wang specializes in reconstructing prehistoric and historic human migrations using genomic data, with emphasis on the genetic impacts of trans-Eurasian communication, Neolithic agricultural expansions, and the demographic processes shaping modern populations. He investigates topics such as paternal lineage evolution, Han cultural diffusion into peripheral regions, and forensic applications of genetic markers.

Publications: His recent work includes studies on Tang Dynasty genetic diversity, Neolithic expansions in the Yellow River Valley, and genomic insights into Yunnan-Guizhou plateau populations. These studies highlight interdisciplinary approaches combining archaeology, genetics, and computational modeling to address questions about human diversity and cultural adaptation.

Editorial Roles: He serves as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Genetics (Evolutionary and Population Genetics) and Review Editor for Frontiers in Earth Science.
