Christy K. Holland is a Professor with joint appointments in the College of Medicine and College of Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. She holds the Hanna Endowed Chair of Cardiology and serves as Interim Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Research.
Her research focuses on:
- Ultrasound-assisted thrombolysis for stroke therapy
- Echogenic targeted liposomes for drug delivery
- Acoustic cavitation phenomena
- Diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound bioeffects
- Image-guided ultrasound therapeutics
Dr. Holland has received continuous NIH funding since 2008 for her work on ultrasound-enhanced therapies and has been recognized as a Fellow by multiple professional societies. She formerly served as Editor-in-Chief of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (2006-2021) and President of the Acoustical Society of America (2015-2017).
She directs the Image-guided Ultrasound Therapeutics Laboratories which develop applications including sonothrombolysis, ultrasound-mediated drug delivery, and histotripsy for thrombus ablation.
