Christos Papatheodorou serves as Professor of Social Policy at the Department of Social Policy of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences and holds a position on the University's Board of Directors. His academic career spans multiple Greek institutions with significant administrative leadership roles.

Professor Papatheodorou's research focuses on the political economy of social policy with particular expertise in economic inequality, income distribution mechanisms, poverty analysis, and comparative welfare systems. His work emphasizes the relationship between macroeconomic conditions and social protection frameworks, with special attention to Mediterranean countries within the European context. He has developed significant expertise in managing large social databases and research infrastructures for inequality analysis.
Throughout his career, Professor Papatheodorou has held numerous leadership positions including Vice Rector for Finance at Panteion University, Dean of the School of Social, Political and Economic Sciences at Democritus University of Thrace, and Director of Postgraduate Studies at Panteion University. He has coordinated multiple research projects as scientific director in his fields of expertise.
As a founding member of both the Hellenic Social Policy Association (where he served as chairman) and the Greek Association of Political Economy, Professor Papatheodorou has shaped academic discourse in Greece. His international engagement includes visiting positions at LSE-STICERD and VU Amsterdam's Department of Sociology. He regularly contributes expert commentary on inequality and social policy issues to Greek and international media outlets.
