Christos Mantzoros, MD, DSc is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Chief of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the Boston VA Healthcare System, and Director of Human Nutrition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). He has also served as Professor of Environmental Health at the Harvard School of Public Health and Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. His career spans clinical practice, groundbreaking research, and extensive mentorship in endocrinology, metabolism, and nutrition.
Dr. Mantzoros is a world-renowned expert in leptin and adipokine research, ranked number 1 globally in leptin research and number 2 in adiponectin research by ExpertScape. His primary research interests include energy homeostasis, obesity, diabetes, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), and the role of adipokines in metabolic regulation. He has published over 1,100 scientific papers with more than 168,800 citations and an H-index of 157, making him one of the most cited researchers in his field.
