Christopher Swift is a Professor at New York City College of Technology, CUNY, affiliated with the School of Arts & Sciences and the Humanities Department. His research focuses on medieval theatre, with expertise in affective piety, theatre architecture, performance practices on the Iberian Peninsula, and interdisciplinary integration of humanities and STEM. He has authored a book on late medieval Seville and explored medieval automata in relation to AI through a podcast.

His research spans medieval performance studies, phenomenology of space, and digital humanities, with a focus on GIS mapping and historical reconstruction. His publications analyze medieval automata, performance and devotion, and urban theatrical culture, often bridging technology and tradition. He received the 2024 David Bevington Award for Best New Book in Early Drama Studies and served as a Fellow on grants from the Title V Program and NEH.
He mentors student projects in interdisciplinary media and historical technology, coordinating the Theatre Studies Minor at City Tech. His work involves collaborations with the Joseph Papp Public Theater and contributions to the American Society for Theatre Research and Medieval and Renaissance Drama Society.
