Christopher Shaw is Professor of Performing Arts at Savannah College of Art and Design, with prior appointments at University of Southern California and California State universities. Specializes in acting, directing, and mask performance techniques with over 20 years professional acting experience.
Research and teaching focuses on acting methodology, mask performance techniques (including Neutral Mask, Commedia, and Libby Appel methods), and directing pedagogy. Has developed specialized curricula for international programs including a Shanghai Theatre Academy intensive.
Received multiple awards including Ovation Award (2003), LADCC Award (2005), and Outstanding Creative Achievement in Theatre Arts (2014). Directed numerous productions including works by Churchill, Dorfman, and Bergman.
Professional affiliations include Pacific Resident Theatre, Rogue Machine Theatre Company, Echo Theatre Company, and SAG-AFTRA.
