Christopher Pullen is an Associate Professor in Media and Inclusivity at Bournemouth University's College of Media. His research focuses on LGBTQ+ media representation, queer youth identity, and the intersection of technology with activism. He leads projects funded by the British Academy, examining LGBTQ+ asylum seekers' needs and NGO support networks. Pullen holds a PhD in Media and Social Identity from Bournemouth University (2004) and has taught at the university since 2005. His work spans monographs, edited collections, and peer-reviewed articles, including studies on Nurse Jackie, The Real World, and queer youth documentaries. Notable publications include Pedro Zamora, Sexuality, and AIDS Education (2016) and Queer Youth and Media Cultures (2014). He has advised multiple PhD students on transnational cinema and media activism, and his recent work addresses the impact of pandemic policies on LGBTQ+ asylum seekers. Pullen collaborates with NGOs to theorize digital tools for refugee support and has presented at international conferences such as the Society for Cinema and Media Studies and the Popular Culture Association.
