Christopher Ndehedehe

Dr. Christopher Ndehedehe is a Senior Lecturer and Australian Research Council (ARC) DECRA Fellow at Griffith University's School of Environment & Science, part of the Australian Rivers Institute. He joined Griffith in 2018 as a Research Fellow, following his PhD from Curtin University (awarded with Vice Chancellor's commendation). His research focuses on satellite hydrology, environmental remote sensing, and climate science, with expertise in machine learning applications and geospatial analysis.

Research Focus: He leads the Satellite Earth Observation and Geomatic Group, pioneering projects on remote sensing hydrology, including ARC-funded initiatives (DE230101327, LP230100228). His work integrates satellite data (e.g., GRACE, GPS) to monitor freshwater resources, groundwater dynamics, and climate impacts. He has authored 2 Springer books and over 110 peer-reviewed articles in top journals like Nature and Nature Sustainability.

Awards: Notable recognitions include the ARC DECRA Fellowship (2023-2025), Griffith's Excellence in Early Career Research Award (2023), and inclusion in Stanford's Top 2% Scientists (2023-2024). He also received the D.B. Johnston Award for Excellence in Spatial Sciences (2018).

Affiliations & Leadership: Editor for Resources, Environment and Sustainability and Frontiers in Water, and guest editor for special issues. He advises non-governmental agencies on water planning and has contributed to the Earth Commission's work on planetary boundaries. Active in consultancies for Australian and international bodies, including projects funded by the Environment Centre NT and the Asian Development Bank.
