معرفی
Dr Christopher Keneally is a Grant Funded Researcher (A) in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Adelaide, within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. He is affiliated with the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology department and the Freshwater & Ecophysiology Lab. His research focuses on microbial ecology, particularly in aquatic systems, exploring how microbes influence ecosystem health and climate adaptation strategies. Key themes include methane dynamics in hypersaline environments, salinity impacts on microbial communities, and nutrient cycling in degraded ecosystems.
He investigates microbial community responses to environmental changes using multi-omics, isotope tracing, and sensor technologies. Notable projects include studying the Coorong lagoon’s recovery post-flood and developing eDNA tools for ecosystem health assessment. Dr. Keneally is eligible to supervise Masters and PhD students interested in microbial ecology, environmental chemistry, or data science/bioinformatics.
His recent work includes analyzing greenhouse gas dynamics in hypersaline systems and the role of organic matter in methane production. Articles highlight innovations in passive sampling techniques and microbial succession under salinity stress. He advocates for ecosystem restoration through evidence-based strategies informed by microbial and biogeochemical data.
