Christopher Kello

Christopher Kello serves as Professor and Department Chair of the Cognitive & Information Sciences department at the University of California, Merced.

Professor Kello's research spans multiple interconnected domains within cognitive science. His primary research interests focus on neural networks and complex systems, examining how these frameworks can model human cognitive processes. Within language processing, his work investigates speech production and perception, language acquisition and processing mechanisms, and information search behaviors in both human and artificial systems. His interdisciplinary approach bridges computational modeling with empirical cognitive research.

As Department Chair, Professor Kello leads the Cognitive & Information Sciences program, overseeing academic initiatives, faculty development, and research directions for the department. His leadership helps shape one of UC Merced's distinctive interdisciplinary programs that combines insights from psychology, computer science, linguistics, and neuroscience.
