Christopher Hoy

Dr Christopher Hoy is a Professor at the Tax & Transfer Policy Institute, Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University. His research focuses on income distribution, tax policy, and development economics. He leads projects on behavioral insights to improve tax compliance in developing countries, such as Papua New Guinea.

Key research areas include inequality measurement, foreign aid effectiveness, and the impact of information campaigns on public policy preferences. He has conducted extensive work on vaccine hesitancy in low-income countries and the economic effects of the pandemic.

Hoy has collaborated on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and survey experiments in Indonesia, Zambia, and Tanzania. His work bridges behavioral economics with public policy, emphasizing evidence-based interventions in tax systems and public health.
