Dr. Christopher H. Thomas is Associate Professor and Interim Chair of the Management Department at Saint Louis University's Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business. He earned his PhD in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from the University of Georgia, an MPA from North Carolina State University, and a BA in Political Science from the same institution.
Thomas researches leadership emergence, team dynamics, work-family balance, and organizational climate. His work employs field experiments, psychometric validation, and cross-cultural analysis to examine topics like stewardship climate, fluid team performance, and exercise interventions for work-life balance. Recent studies investigate moral conviction in academic dishonesty and contextual leadership in historical narratives.
His publications have received multiple awards including the 2018 Outstanding Paper in the Journal of Managerial Psychology and Best Empirical Paper from the Academy of Management's Entrepreneurship Division (2011). Thomas teaches Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management, and Leadership at undergraduate and MBA levels.
He has supervised doctoral dissertations on moral conviction and fluid teams, and serves on editorial boards for Group and Organization Management and Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology.
