Christopher H. Eliot is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Hofstra University, where he also serves as the faculty adviser for Hofstra's interdisciplinary Minor in Data Analysis and Scientific Reasoning. He has taught in the Philosophy Department, Biology Department, and Honors College, and was recognized as Hofstra's Mentor of the Year in 2017.

His research focuses on philosophical questions in biology, particularly the nature of ecological communities, the justification of scientific reasoning, and the relationship between scientific concepts and broader values. Recent work explores biogeographical representation of populations and the role of constraints in ecological modeling.
He actively contributes to academic governance as President of the University Senate and Chair of its Executive Committee. As an Editor of the open-access journal Philosophy, Theory, and Practice in Biology, he fosters interdisciplinary dialogue between philosophy and biology.
