Christopher Dick is a Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Michigan, where he also serves as Curator of Vascular Plants at the U-M Herbarium and Director of the U-M Museum of Zoology. His research integrates evolutionary biology, ecology, and historical biogeography to study tropical and temperate forest tree diversity.
- Ph.D. and M.A., Harvard University
- Postdoctoral Fellow, Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute
His work focuses on the genetic connectivity of Neotropical forests, the impacts of climate change on tree speciation, and the use of genomic tools to unravel biogeographical patterns. He has led studies on the Brazil nut family, fig dispersal, and Pleistocene refugia.
Recent publications highlight his contributions to plant phylogeography, mycorrhizal feedbacks in forests, and the development of genomic tools for tropical tree analysis. He also curates extensive collections at the U-M Herbarium, supporting global botanical research.
