Christopher Gaffney is a Professor of Archaeological Science at the University of Bradford's Faculty of Life Sciences, School of Archaeological & Forensic Sciences. As a British archaeological geophysicist, his research focuses on applying geophysical data to enhance archaeological interpretation of ancient life and culture, particularly in technically challenging environments.
His work spans global projects including the Stonehenge Hidden Landscapes Project, Diocletian’s Palace (Split, Croatia), Fountains Abbey (UK), Megara Hyblaea (Sicily), and Ancient Cyrene (Libya). Recent projects address broader cultural issues like the Curious Travellers initiative using web-scraping for heritage preservation, and the relationship between above/below-ground archaeological remains.
