Christopher Ewing is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Virginia Commonwealth University. He specializes in transnational histories of race, sexuality, and queerness in contemporary Germany, with a focus on post-1970 queer movements and their intersections with racial politics.

His research bridges LGBTQ history, transnational social movements, and the role of racialized desire in modern European contexts. He is particularly interested in sex tourism, queer media, and the global dimensions of German history.
Christopher's recent publications include analyses of gay rights' entanglement with racial dynamics, such as studies on the AIDS epidemic's racialized impact and the contradictions in West German homosexual magazines. His edited volume on queer media in the German-speaking world is under contract with Palgrave Macmillan.
