Christopher Collins

Dr. Christopher Collins is an Assistant Professor and MSW Program Coordinator in the School of Social Work at Salem State University, with affiliations as a Research Affiliate for Maura's Voice Research Fund. He holds a Ph.D. from Florida State University and brings extensive clinical experience from child welfare, victim advocacy, and behavioral health settings.

His research focuses on firearm violence prevention, suicide intervention, and social policy analysis, with current projects examining LGBTQ firearm ownership dynamics. Dr. Collins maintains clinical social work licenses in Massachusetts and Florida and holds leadership positions in the National Association of Social Workers.

His publications demonstrate strong interdisciplinary connections between social work practice, public health policy, and violence prevention research, with emerging work on Incel-related violence and trauma interventions in educational settings.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in forensic social work, privilege/oppression studies, research methods, and social policy across BSW and MSW programs. He chairs the MSW Admissions Committee and participates in curriculum development initiatives.
