Keith Platt is a Senior Clinical Instructor at the Sandler School of Social Work, Florida Atlantic University. He is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with dual designations from The National Association of Social Workers (NASW): ACSW and DCSW. Since 1996, he has taught in the BSW and MSW programs, covering practice, human behavior, and social environment sequences. He joined FAU’s field faculty in 2008.
Dr. Platt holds a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work (DSW, 2016) from the University of Tennessee, an MSW from Florida State University (1990), and a BSW from Florida Atlantic University (1989). His career includes private psychotherapy practice (1993–2003) and agency roles at organizations like Drug Abuse Treatment Association and Center for Family Services.
His research and academic focus centers on minority issues, oppression dynamics, addiction treatment, mindfulness, spirituality in clinical practice, and LGBTQ+ youth advocacy. He co-founded HOPE, a pioneering psycho-educational support program for LGBTQ+ youth and families in Florida, which secured state and national recognition after launching in 1992.
