Christopher Cañete Rodriguez Kelly serves as Mellon Teaching Fellow in the Society of Fellows in the Humanities and Lecturer in English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, specializing in literary criticism of Southeast Asian and diasporic literary traditions.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Literary Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison (2024)
Research centers on twentieth-century Southeast Asian literature with emphasis on Philippine Tagalog and Anglophone literary production, translation dynamics, Latinx studies, and critical indigenous frameworks. The book project "From Bundok to the Boondocks" examines how Philippine Anglophone literature achieved national prominence through the economic marginalization of Tagalog literary traditions. Publications appear in Hispanic Issues, The Mekong Review, CNN Philippines, and ASAP/Journal, with forthcoming work in PMLA.
