Christopher Carlton is a Term Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Education at Queen’s University and an Elementary Teacher with the Limestone District School Board (seconded to Queen’s University). He holds a B.Sc. from Western University (1986) and a B.Ed. from Queen’s University (2004). His teaching philosophy emphasizes student engagement, hands-on learning, and environmental stewardship.

His research interests include integrating science and technology education (STEAM) with cross-curricular strategies, particularly through nonfiction literature and land-based learning. He advocates for student-centered, problem-based approaches and emphasizes environmental sustainability, including initiatives like a school-wide vermicomposting program aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals. He also focuses on Indigenous education through the Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP).
Chris leads outreach efforts via the mykitchenscienceshow YouTube channel, sharing hands-on STEAM experiments, and co-hosts the Popular Podagogy podcast, exploring innovative teaching strategies and pedagogy.
