Christopher Burke

Christopher Burke is an Associate Professor in the Department of Typography and Graphic Communication at the University of Reading, UK. His work focuses on the history of design and visual communication, particularly the Isotype system developed in interwar Vienna. He has held a Research Fellowship at the University of Vienna and co-curated the V&A's 'Isotype: International Picture Language' exhibition. His research explores how visual systems convey complex information, with emphasis on Otto Neurath's Social and Economic Museum work. Burke has co-edited seminal works including Otto Neurath's autobiography and a collection on Isotype's historical contexts.
