Christopher Barlett, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Kansas State University (K-State), part of the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on predicting and reducing aggressive/violent behavior, with recent emphasis on cyberbullying. He developed the Barlett Gentile Cyberbullying Model (BGCM) and created a cyberbullying intervention. He supervises graduate students in the Social-Personality program and undergraduate researchers in his lab, emphasizing independent research and authorship opportunities.
Dr. Barlett’s work explores personality factors (e.g., fear of retaliation, trait aggression) and situational triggers (e.g., heat, provocations) influencing aggression. His cyberbullying research examines parent/peer reinforcement, anonymity’s role in cyber-racism, and cross-cultural predictors. He actively publishes in journals like Aggressive Behavior and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
He is accepting graduate students for Fall 2025 and mentors undergraduates in lab activities (e.g., data collection, analysis, conference presentations). His lab emphasizes theoretical rigor and methodological skills for scholarly excellence.
