Dr. Christophe Gillain is a Researcher at the School of History, University of St Andrews. He holds a PhD (2023) from the University of Cambridge and an MA from the University of Auckland. His research focuses on early modern political culture, particularly communication, mobility, and state formation in France and Europe. He is currently involved in the ERC/UKRI-funded project 'Communicating the Law in Europe, 1500-1750' (2024-2028) and co-edited a Special Issue of Renaissance Studies on 'Innovation and Exile'. His monograph, Transnational Rebellion in Bourbon France, explores exile networks and absolutist state development.
