Massachusetts Institute of Technologyمعرفی
Christoph Reinhart is the Terri and Alan Spoon Professor of Architecture and Climate at MIT's School of Architecture + Planning. He leads the Sustainable Design Lab (SDL), focusing on environmental performance evaluation of buildings and neighborhoods through tools like UBEM.io. His work bridges academia and industry via companies like Solemma and MIT spin-off Mapdwell. He holds a doctorate in architecture from the Technical University of Karlsruhe and has authored over 160 peer-reviewed articles, including two textbooks on daylighting. His research spans sustainable design, urban energy modeling, and climate-responsive architecture.
Key research interests include building energy efficiency, thermal comfort, daylighting, and urban microclimate analysis. His tools are used globally, aiding policymakers and practitioners in decarbonization strategies. Awards include the Fraunhofer Bessel Prize (2018) and IBPSA-USA's Distinguished Achievement Award (2016).
Recent work emphasizes data-driven urban planning, such as linking energy use to climate patterns and quantifying carbon reduction pathways. Grants from NSF, DOE, and industry partners support his interdisciplinary teams. He advises cities on achieving emissions targets through calibrated building energy models and promotes equity in sustainable design access.
Labs/Teams: Sustainable Design Lab (SDL), Solemma, UBEM.io. Collaborations include MIT's Department of Architecture and global institutions. His educational contributions include pioneering courses on sustainable design and mentoring over 50 students since 2012.
