Christoph Frommel is a Professor of Art History at the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy of the Sapienza University of Rome. He was previously a Professor at the University of Bonn (1968–1980) and served as Director Emeritus of the Bibliotheca Hertziana (Max Planck Institute for Art History) in Rome, where he was Director from 1980 to 2001. His academic career spans institutions including the University of Munich, University of Bonn, and guest semesters at Princeton and UC Berkeley.
