Christoph Fehige is Professor of Practical Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, Saarland University. He also serves as a regular visiting professor at the University of Luxembourg.
His research focuses on ethics, practical reason, philosophy of mind, and logic, with a strong emphasis on British moral philosophy (Francis Hutcheson and David Hume), consequentialism, political philosophy, deontic logic, and population ethics. He explores intersections between welfare theory, benevolence, and preference modeling.
Recent publications like Rationality and Morality (2021) and One Simple Reason Why for Many Attitudes We Will Never Have a Satisfactory General Metric (2016) reflect his work on preference logic, virtue ethics, and cooperation. His 2010 paper Feeling Our Way to the Common Good connects emotional reasoning to social philosophy.
Christoph Fehige has taught courses on practical philosophy, analytic ethics, and empiricism. He provides detailed guidelines for writing recommendation letters and emphasizes academic integrity in student evaluations.
