Christoph Burger serves as Senior Lecturer and Faculty Lead of the MBA Programs at ESMT Berlin since September 1, 2025, bringing extensive industry expertise from five years at Otto Versand/Bertelsmann Buch AG, five years at Arthur D. Little, and five years as an independent private equity consultant for SMEs.
His academic foundation includes a Licentiatus oeconomiae from Hochschule St. Gallen, an MA in Applied Economics from the University of Michigan, and a Vordiplom from the University of Saarbrücken.
Burger's research focuses on energy sector transformation through blockchain, corporate innovation models, and strategic decision-making. His influential work includes the dena/ ESMT study on blockchain applications in energy transition, the ESMT Innovation Index for Electricity Supply Industry, and the book "The Decentralized Energy Revolution – Business Strategies for a New Paradigm," establishing him as a thought leader in decentralized energy systems.
He directs executive education programs in decision-making and blockchain for energy/banking industries and global leadership initiatives including Yale Global Executive Leadership and CKGSB CEO programs. An active industry participant, he speaks at dena, eco-summit, and IAEE conferences while serving on juries for GreenTec Awards and Dena Startup Energy Transition Award, and mentoring startups through startupbootcamp and Axel Springer Plug and Play accelerators.
