Christoph Beitl is a University Assistant (predoc) at the Chair of Historical Transregional Studies within the Faculty Center for Transdisciplinary Historical and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna. He holds a BA in History and an MA in Contemporary History & Media from the University of Vienna and the University of Bonn. His research focuses on transregional transfers between the Solidarność movement and Western European labor unions during the Cold War, emphasizing entanglements across bloc borders.
Beitl’s academic journey includes roles as a history educator at the House of Austrian History (2022–2024) and as a student representative for the Doctoral School of Historical and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna. His work has been supported by research fellowships at the European History Research Centre (University of Warwick) and the Archive of Social Democracy (Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Bonn).
His research interests span Cold War dynamics, labor movements, and transregional comparative studies. His recent publications address media diplomacy, labor protest, and economic nationalism in Cold War Europe, alongside oral history projects on urban social issues like homelessness in Vienna.
While no formal awards are listed, his contributions to academic conferences and interdisciplinary research highlight his engagement with transnational historical methodologies. He continues to explore the intersections of labor activism and geopolitical boundaries in his doctoral studies.
