Christoforos Bouzanis

Christoforos Bouzanis is a Senior Lecturer in Organisation Studies at the Faculty of Business and Law, University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Edinburgh, an MA in Social and Political Thought from the University of Warwick, and a BSc in International and European Economic Studies from Athens University of Economics and Business. Prior to joining UWE, he worked as a Teaching Assistant in Sociology at the University of Edinburgh, as a Research Associate at Adam Smith Business School (University of Glasgow), and as a Lecturer in People and Organisations at Swansea University.

His main research interests include:

• Social Imaginary and Subjectivity
• Organisational Culture and Research Philosophies
• Power, Political Economy, and Globalisation

Christoforos is currently developing his project on defining Immanent Idealism as an alternative path for social ontology, meta-ontology and epistemology, critically engaging with traditions of critical realism, social constructionism, interpretivism, pragmatism and theories of practice. His publication record demonstrates consistent theoretical advancement across sociology, philosophy and organizational studies, with a particular focus on foundational questions of social ontology and reflexivity.

Christoforos maintains regular office hours on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 in Office 5X214 and teaches courses on Organisational Culture, Research Philosophies, Power, Political Economy, and Globalisation. He actively welcomes discussions with colleagues and research students about theoretical challenges in social research, research design methodology, and the future of academia.
