Christine M de Denus is an Associate Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she has been a faculty member since 1999. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Manitoba and completed her postdoctoral training at Pennsylvania State University. Her research and teaching are centered in inorganic and organometallic chemistry.

Her research focuses on inorganic and organometallic chemistry, particularly in the synthesis and characterization of molecular wire candidates with potential applications in molecular electronics. She investigates materials incorporating aromatic terpyridine groups linked by transition metal centers such as Ru, Fe, and Os, using techniques like multinuclear NMR, IR, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis, and electrochemistry.
The published articles reflect a consistent research trajectory in inorganic and polymer chemistry, especially in phosphazene polymers and electroactive organometallic systems. These works demonstrate expertise in advanced characterization methods and the design of functional materials for technological applications.

She also serves as the Director of the Colleges' First Generation Initiative and mentors Posse 8 scholars, demonstrating a strong commitment to educational access and student development.
She is actively involved in the academic community as a reviewer for journals such as Macromolecules and Journal of Inorganic and Organometallic Polymers, and for funding agencies including the NSF and ACS-PRF. Her professional affiliations include the American Chemical Society, Council on Undergraduate Research, and the Canadian Society of Chemistry.
