Christine Harbring is a Full Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Economics at RWTH Aachen University, leading the Chair of Organization. She holds a Diplom-Volkswirt from the University of Bonn (2000) and completed her Ph.D. on 'Experimental Studies on Incentives in Organizations' in 2003, winning the Heinz Sauermann Dissertation Prize. Her research focuses on Organizational Economics, Behavioral Economics, and Experimental Economics, particularly using virtual reality. She has held academic roles at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and taught at institutions like LSE and University of Cologne. Her work explores incentives in organizations, sabotage in tournaments, and virtual collaboration.
Key research contributions include studies on creativity in virtual teams (2025), cooperation incentives in groups (2023), and the role of identity disclosure in public goods (2021). She has served as a Research Fellow at IZA and editor of the German Journal of Human Resource Management. Her recent work combines experimental methods with virtual reality to analyze team dynamics and organizational behavior.
Her funded projects include DFG grants on trust and performance management (2005–2009). Awards include the Heinz Sauermann Prize for her doctoral work. She advises on human resource strategies and has published extensively on incentive design, employee performance, and public good provision.
