Christine Edmonds

Christine Edmonds is a Senior Lecturer and Module Leader in the Department of Social Work and Social Care and Community Studies at Sheffield Hallam University. She teaches across multiple modules and specializes in psycho-social approaches, therapeutic interventions, and issues related to substance misuse and offending behaviors. Her roles include managing practice placements as a Placement Tutor and serving as an Independent Practice Educator in the Voluntary Sector.

Chrissie holds an MA in Social Work from Nottingham University (1996) alongside a Diploma in Social Work. She furthered her expertise with an MA Module in Practice Education (2011). Her professional experience spans roles such as Team Manager, Youth Project Manager, and Senior Practitioner in youth justice and children's services before joining SHU in 2013.

Her research focuses on enhancing social work practice education through direct observation methodologies, as evidenced in her publications in journals like Journal of Practice Teaching and Learning and Social Work Education. She advocates for innovative assessment strategies to evaluate student capabilities in real-world settings.
