Christina Welsch is the Robert Critchfield Chair of English History at the College of Wooster. Her research focuses on British imperial history, particularly India and the Indian Ocean during the eighteenth century, examining military networks and racial dynamics in colonial contexts. She holds a B.A. from Emory University (2010), M.A. from Princeton University (2012), and Ph.D. from Princeton (2017).

Her work explores how military structures shaped colonial expansion, comparing British and French East India Company strategies. Notable publications include The Company’s Sword (Cambridge, 2022), which won major awards in British and imperial history. She teaches courses on global history, Asian history of historiography, and archival research methods.
