Christina Scherrer serves as Senior Associate Dean for the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology and Full Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Kennesaw State University (KSU), where she has held faculty positions since Fall 2005 following the SPSU-KSU consolidation.
Her research program spans two critical domains: industrial engineering applications in public health and STEM education innovation. In public health, she develops optimization models for community health center placement, quantifies impacts of dental sealant programs, and creates epidemiological models for tuberculosis transmission and childhood obesity interventions. Her STEM education work rigorously evaluates online learning effectiveness, high school outreach program impacts, and active pedagogical approaches including service learning in engineering curricula.
Dr. Scherrer has secured continuous funding from premier agencies including NIH, NSF, and CDC to support her interdisciplinary research. She has mentored over two dozen undergraduate researchers through co-authored publications, demonstrating exceptional commitment to developing the next generation of STEM professionals.
Her distinguished scholarship is recognized through:
- KSU Outstanding Research and Creative Activity Award (2017)
- Distinguished Scholarship Award for the College (2020)
- NDSEG/ASEE Graduate Fellowship
- Georgia Tech Presidential Fellowship
- ARCS Fellowship
Professional leadership extends beyond KSU through board service with the Georgia Oral Health Coalition and former advisory roles with the Atlanta Association for Supply Chain Management. Her community engagement includes over twenty years of youth group volunteer work and service on multiple community organization boards, reflecting deep commitment to societal impact through both professional expertise and personal dedication.
