Lance Crimm is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Kennesaw State University's Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology. He teaches courses such as EE 1000, EE 2301, and ENGR 4402, with syllabi available via D2L. His research spans embedded systems, acoustics, and alternative energy applications, including innovative projects like designing a concert grand piano studio for acoustical analysis and developing a racquetball court-based system for tracking high-speed objects.
- Academic Affiliation: Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, Kennesaw State University
- Teaching Focus: Electrical Engineering, Signals and Systems, Embedded Systems
- Current Role: Faculty member since 1997, founding department chair (2009-2020)
Educational Background:
- B.E.E. in Electrical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology (1993)
- M.S.E.E. in Electrical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology (1994)
- Professional Engineer License, State of Georgia (2006)
Crimm's research integrates engineering principles with acoustics and music technology. Recent projects include analyzing acoustical data from a custom-designed piano studio for publication, investigating racquetball court dynamics for object tracking algorithms, and historical work on solar-powered mobility solutions for the disabled. His interdisciplinary collaborations extend to pandemic-era studies on face mask acoustics with mechanical engineering colleagues.
Scientific Recognition:
- 2008 Southern Polytechnic State University Teacher of the Year
- Featured presenter at ASEE 2025 and KSU Giving Day events
As founding department chair (2009-2020), Crimm established the electrical engineering program at KSU. He continues advising students and leads research initiatives while maintaining active club sport involvement, notably guiding KSU to victories in racquetball competitions against UGA and Georgia Tech. Office hours are available M-F at 3pm in Q-337B, with contact details updated on faculty web profiles.
