Christina Laskaridis

Christina Laskaridis serves as a Visiting Senior Fellow at the LSE’s Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, leading CETEx’s sovereign debt initiatives, while holding her primary academic appointment as Senior Lecturer in Economics at The Open University. She also maintains an affiliation as an associate of St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford.

Academic Background:

• PhD in Economics from SOAS, University of London (thesis on debt sustainability)

Research Focus: Her work critically examines sovereign debt structures, debt sustainability frameworks, and their intersection with development policy and human rights. She investigates how debt mechanisms impact sustainable development pathways and advocates for rights-based approaches to debt governance through interdisciplinary political economy analysis.
