Christina Hardway is a Professor and Chair of the Psychology Department at Merrimack College's School of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on anxiety, metacognition, and learning, aiming to understand how individuals overcome avoidance behaviors and engage in meaningful learning. She investigates therapeutic interventions for anxiety disorders, curricular strategies to enhance classroom learning, and the role of personal meaning in resource allocation.
Education: PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Michigan and BA in Psychology from the University of Chicago. She holds expertise in anxiety treatment, metacognition, curiosity, and the psychology of meaning and purpose.
Recent work includes studies on team learning in business education, metacognition in anatomy students, and the application of CBT for childhood anxiety. Her research also explores the efficacy of online simulations in education and co-occurring PTSD and chronic pain.
Awarded the Edward G. Roddy Outstanding Teacher of the Year (2015) and a Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Faculty Fellow (2014), she emphasizes innovative teaching methods. Her lab focuses on bridging psychological theory with practical educational interventions.
