Christina Fisanick is a Professor of English at Pennsylvania Western University, specializing in expository writing, digital storytelling, and creative nonfiction. She holds a PhD and a Certificate in Digital Storytelling from the University of Colorado at Denver. Her work focuses on public history, northern Appalachian culture, and Wheeling history, with over 30 authored or edited books, including Digital Storytelling as Public History (2020) and Pulling the Thread: Untangling Wheeling History (forthcoming 2024).
Dr. Fisanick’s research integrates interdisciplinary approaches, blending creative writing with historical narratives. She collaborates with the Heinz History Center to produce digital stories about northern Appalachian communities. Her creative work explores personal themes like infertility, loss, and Binge Eating Disorder, alongside her artistic ventures in abstract pen-and-ink drawings and watercolor paintings.
Active in community initiatives, she serves as President of the Writers Association of Northern Appalachia (WANA), co-hosts WANA LIVE! reading series, and co-chairs the Northern Appalachian Network at PennWest California. Her writing appears in journals such as Journal of Advanced Composition and Feminist Media Studies.
