Christian-Hubert Ehalt (1949-2023) was a Professor at the University of Vienna's Department of Economic and Social History. A distinguished cultural scientist and historian, he served as Science Referent for the City of Vienna (1984-2016) and founded the influential 'Wiener Vorlesungen' lecture series. His research encompassed Viennese social history, urban development, and the societal impacts of science and technology.
Ehalt authored and edited numerous publications on Viennese cultural history, including studies of urban hygiene, energy utilization, and historical anthropology. His leadership roles included directing the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Historical Anthropology and serving on multiple scientific foundations. He received numerous honors, including the City of Vienna's Grand Silver Decoration of Honour and honorary citizenship of the University of Vienna.
