Christian Grafl

Christian Grafl is a Professor at the University of Vienna, serving as Deputy Head of the Research Center for Legal Psychology within the Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology. His research focuses on legal psychology, juvenile delinquency, gender-related criminal law and criminology (particularly sexual crime and human trafficking), and white-collar crime. He is actively involved in interdisciplinary projects and has contributed to policy discussions on criminal law amendments, including anti-stalking regulations, juvenile justice reforms, and security police acts. Grafl collaborates with institutions like the Institute of Civil Procedure at the University of Vienna and the Institute of Criminal Law at Johannes Kepler University Linz.

Grafl co-edits the Series of publications by ALES - Austrian Center for Law Enforcement Sciences and organizes interdisciplinary conferences addressing contemporary criminal law challenges such as human trafficking, cybercrime, hate speech, and international cooperation in criminal matters. He has led high-impact research projects like the Analysis of Construction Fraud Cases (2014) and provided expert commentary on topics like oppression of crime victims and deficiencies in the Austrian penal system. His work emphasizes empirical analysis and interdisciplinary collaboration with law enforcement, policymakers, and legal institutions.
