His research focuses on civil procedure, digitalization of courts, video hearings, consumer law, personality rights, and comparative procedural law. He actively contributes to legal reform debates, particularly on the legitimacy and design of digital court proceedings, the use of AI-generated evidence (e.g., Deep Fakes), and the balance between free speech and personality rights in digital spaces.
The recent publications reflect a strong trend toward the intersection of law and technology, especially in civil litigation. Topics include digital evidence, online notarization, video hearings, and the regulation of influencers. There is also sustained engagement with comparative civil justice systems (Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France) and doctrinal analysis of German civil law. The keywords span civil procedure, digital justice, consumer protection, and media law.
Prof. Gomille supervises doctoral researchers, including Dr. Pierre Hubertus, whose dissertation on consumer withdrawal rights in real estate brokerage was published in 2024. He is involved in externally funded research projects such as "Digitale Präsenz bei Gericht" (funded by the Federal Ministry of Justice) and a comparative study on fact-finding in civil proceedings (funded by the Netherlands Association for Procedural Law). These projects involve collaboration with courts, legal practitioners, and international scholars.
He is an active member of academic and judicial discourse, regularly delivering lectures at national and international forums such as the Göttinger Kolloquien, EDV-Gerichtstag, and international conferences in Japan and the Netherlands. He also contributes to major legal commentaries including the Kölner Kommentar, Soergel, and Beck’s Press Law commentary.
Prof. Gomille leads a research team at his chair, including scientific and student assistants, and organizes academic events such as joint revision courses and public lectures. He delivered his inaugural lecture in 2023 on "Kunst im öffentlichen Raum," exploring legal conflicts around public art, artist rights, and commercial appropriation.
