استاد · Building Services Engineering
Westphalian University of Applied Sciencesمعرفی
Prof. Dr. Christian Fieberg is a full Professor of Building Services Engineering at the Westfälische Hochschule in Gelsenkirchen, where he is affiliated with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Environmental and Building Services Engineering (FB 1) and the Westfälisches Energieinstitut. He has held significant leadership roles, including Dean of FB 1 from 2020 to 2024 and currently serves as Vice Dean since April 2024.
His research focuses on key areas in building technology, including HVAC systems, thermal comfort, indoor air quality, room air flow modeling, and Building Information Modeling (BIM). He leads the Air Conditioning Laboratory and conducts applied research on the scaling of room air flows, aiming to improve the accuracy of scaled indoor air models for engineering applications.
Prof. Fieberg is actively involved in professional standardization, serving as an appointed member of the VDI Heat and Mass Transfer Technical Group and the Room Air Technology Committee, as well as participating in guideline committees for VDI 3803-1 and VDI 3803-5 on room air conditioning systems.
- Education:
- Dipl.-Ing. in Mechanical Engineering, RWTH Aachen (1997–2002)
- Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D.), RWTH Aachen (2002–2007), dissertation: "Contact Heat Transfer under High Pressure and Temperature Boundary Conditions"
He teaches courses such as Climate Technology I & II and Building Information Modeling at both bachelor’s and master’s levels. His professional experience includes prior roles as R&D Director at DencoHappel Group and Head of Technology Center at DencoHappel GmbH (2011–2017), and Group Leader for Simulation at GEA Air Treatment GmbH (2007–2010).
Current research projects include:
- Scaling of Room Air Flows (since April 1, 2018): Investigating partial similarity in scaled indoor air models (1:5 scale) to improve predictive accuracy for thermal comfort and ventilation design.
- Adaptive E-Learning for Vocational Technical Disciplines (AdeLeBK.nrw, 2020–2023): Enhancing digital teaching methods in technical education.
He supervises bachelor’s and master’s theses, though specific student names are not listed. His work bridges academic research with industrial application, particularly in energy-efficient building systems and digital planning tools.
