Christian Antfolk is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Office at the Division for Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering (LTH), Lund University. His research focuses on noninvasive bi-directional neural interfaces, myoelectric control of artificial hands, and biosignal processing for prosthetics and rehabilitation. He is actively involved in the Lund University Profile Areas of Engineering Health and Natural and Artificial Cognition.
His research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in advancing medical materials and robotics for prosthesis technologies. Key projects include AI-driven high-density EMG/EEG systems for rehabilitation, funded by Stiftelsen för bistånd åt rörelsehindrade i Skåne. Antfolk has supervised research in electromechanical sensory feedback systems for prosthetic limbs and has collaborated internationally in haptics and neuromodulation.
His work bridges clinical and engineering challenges in prosthetics, emphasizing sensory feedback and neural signal interpretation. Recent studies explore reaction time modulation in transcutaneous stimulation and mental fatigue effects on neurophysiological signals.
Awarded grants include leadership of two major projects (2024–2027) and contributions to workshops like the Engineering Health Crossroads initiative. His research outputs span 62 peer-reviewed articles, with high-impact studies in Scientific Reports, Nature Reviews Neurology, and IEEE Transactions on Haptics.
