Christian A.L. Hilber

Christian A.L. Hilber is a Professor of Economic Geography at the London School of Economics (LSE) and a Professor of Real Estate Finance & Economics at the University of Zurich (UZH). He is an Associate at the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) and the Spatial Economics Research Centre (SERC). His research focuses on urban and real estate economics, including housing markets, land use regulation, homeownership dynamics, and policy evaluation. He has published extensively in top journals like the Economic Journal and Journal of Urban Economics.

Education: PhD in Economics (summa cum laude) from the University of Basel (1998), MSc in Business and Economics (top of class, 1994). Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania (1999-2002) and an Economist at Fannie Mae (2002-2003).

Research Interests: Urban and real estate economics, public economics, environmental economics, political economy, with a focus on housing supply, land regulation, and policy impacts. Recent work includes studies on Help to Buy policies, second home investments, and mortgage credit expansion.
