Christian A. Witting is a Professor of Law and Vice-Dean (Academic Affairs and Undergraduate Studies) at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Previously, he served as Professor of Private Law at Queen Mary University of London (2018–2023) and Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne (prior to 2018). His legal career includes roles as a Solicitor in Australia's Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department and as a professional legal practitioner.
Education: SJD (University of Melbourne); LLB (Hons) and BEc (Monash University); Barrister & Solicitor (Australia).
Research focuses on tort law, corporate groups, corporate liability, and legal philosophy. His seminal works include Liability of Corporate Groups and Networks (CUP, 2018), Street on Torts (OUP, multiple editions), and Liability for Negligent Misstatements (OUP, 2004). He co-edited the Research Handbook on Corporate Liability (Edward Elgar, 2023), and his scholarship has influenced high courts globally, including the UK Supreme Court and Supreme Court of Canada.
Recent publications emphasize corporate governance architecture, systemic liability frameworks, and tort law's role in regulating complex corporate structures. His work bridges legal theory with practical applications in corporate accountability and financial regulation.
Awards and recognition include judicial citations by major courts worldwide, reflecting his impact on legal practice and jurisprudence.
