Christa Davis Acampora serves as the Buckner W. Clay Professor of Philosophy and Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Virginia. She assumed this role in 2022, during which she has driven strategic initiatives such as revamping the First-Year curriculum, enhancing pre-major advising, and expanding resources for faculty research and graduate student support.
Her academic expertise spans modern European philosophy, moral psychology, and aesthetics. Current research investigates moral transformation and repair mechanisms in high-stress professions like healthcare and military service. Prior roles include Deputy Provost and Philosophy Professor at Emory University, and leadership positions at the CUNY Graduate Center and Hunter College.
Under her leadership at UVA, the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences has achieved a 50% increase in graduate student support, alongside record-breaking endowment growth and improved faculty recruitment outcomes.
