Chris Wise is a Visiting Professor at the Department of Architecture, University of Cambridge. He co-founded Expedition Engineering in 1999 and the Useful Simple Trust in 2008. Previously, he served as a Director at Ove Arup and Partners, becoming their youngest Director in 1992 and later a Board Director for Building Engineering. Known for hands-on creativity and innovative engineering projects, he collaborates with leading architects and has pioneered engineering design education, including founding the Constructionarium while holding the first Professorship of Creative Design at Imperial College.
His awards include dual Gold Medals from the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in 2012, recognizing his contributions to design and education. He has held roles in the UK, Australia, and the USA, emphasizing cross-disciplinary collaboration between engineering and architecture.
